Originally from Brazil, brought up in San Francisco, and trained in Cuba's national conservatory, KID AKIMBO is an explosive performer of uncommon talents. Add a larger-than-life dance presence to this singer's already expressive, multi-octave voice and you have someone to look out for in the pop/dance scene.

Recently relocated to New York City, AKIMBO has had a whirlwind year since his move. Winner of the Best International Artist category at this year's OUTMusic Awards, KID AKIMBO was also nominated for Best Producer for his sexy debut single, Fun Boyz. The Fun Boyz music video had it's broadcast debut on LOGO Television, and has been featured on Spike TV, MTV and VH1.com.

KID AKIMBO introduced us to his brand of "Brazilian-inspired, urban pop music" when he burst onto the scene at 2007's San Francisco Pride MainStage. It has been said that his stage show needs to be seen to be believed; the young talent infuses a vocal blend of pop, r&b, electro and afro-samba with hyper-fast, full-bodied choreography of hip hop, martial arts, and folkloric dance, paying homage to his multi-cultural roots with an unusual sophistication.

AKIMBO has shared the stage with such acts as Tiffany (2007, 2009), four-time Grammy nominee, Ledisi, Kat Deluna, Cazwell, and Amanda Lepore. Following his European appearance in fall 2009, the official release of his debut EP has been met with rave reviews, drawing coverage from SF Weekly, The Examiner, Gloss Magazine, Edge San Francisco, Rainbow Channel, and landing him the cover of Austria's largest gay magazine, XTRA!. AKIMBO performed at the 2009 OUTMusic Awards, in collaboration with award-winner Jasper James, and choreographer/producer legend, Kenneth Still (Michael Jackson, Toni Braxton, Whitney Houston, et al.).

KID AKIMBO's debut album, BRAZILLIANT, is set to release in fall of 2011.
